Pakistan celebrated unbelievable Series Win Against Sri Lanka

An incredible six bagged T20 series following a distinct win in Test and One Day Internationals

Pakistan ended a thriving tour of Sri Lanka with a exciting one-wicket victory in the second T20 international in Colombo on 8-01-2015. Shahid Afridi and Anwar Ali played their prominent role in the whole series.

At Premedasa Stadium the tourists recorded a heart-stopping win in observance of a run out crowd of 35,000 that briefly included Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena.

From a loss of 5 wickets at a mere 40 runs in the eighth over Pakistan recovered to beat Sri Lanka’s challenging target of 172 with four balls to spare with Imad Wasim striking the winning six off left-arm seamer Binura Fernando.

Possibly it was the immaturity that saw Pakistan gaining a grip in the match. Afridi reserved room besides the spinners before time in his innings, but instead of darting it at his body, Milinda Siriwardana sent two balls at the stump, which Afridi swung away for a four and a six to get his attack in motion, in the tenth over.

Pakistan, who won the first T20 match by 29 runs on Thursday, completed an amazing series on the six-week tour, having formerly won the Test series 2-1 and the one-day international 3-2.

Fernando in this series was playing a second international match and gave a flying start in the second over. He bowled Ahmed Shahzad with the slow delivery which then forced Mukhtar Ahmed to a top-edge bouncer at middle wicket to Chamara Kapugedera.

Muhammad Hafeez and Umar Akmal were run-out and Shoaib Malik the senior batsman was confused from team green.

The amazing spin began with Boom Boom Afridi with a sixth-wicket position of 61 with Mohammad Rizwan (17) as the new Sri Lankan hit sagging under force.

In the beginning, hard line batting by debutant Shehan Jayasuriya and Kapugedera lifted Sri Lanka to 172-7 after skipper Lasith Malinga won the toss and chose to bat in the day-night match.

23-year-old left-hander player Jayasuriya,  distinct to Sri Lanka’s ex- captain Sanath Jayasuriya, shattered three fours and two sixes in his 32-ball 40 before he was bowled out.

Kapugedera who boosted the total with an unbeaten 48 off 25 balls that contain four sixes and two boundaries.

Kapugedera kept 55 for the sixth wicket with Milinda Siriwardana (23) as the hosts gave 59 runs in the final five overs to the team green.

Malinga, approved 40 runs in his four overs, rued his poor appearance with the ball.

Srilankans should have bowled better to win the series, and Pakistani team won hearts of the people with the trade mark “HUGE SIX”.

Team green is back in form. They have won an impossible victory against Srilanka.
